What is RSVP reading?
Rapid serial visual presentation puts one word, or a small group of words, in one steady place so your eyes travel less.
RSVP is a display technique, not a test of how quickly you should read. Mark & Meter lets you choose a pace, pause whenever you need, and switch to sentence or paragraph views when the material asks for more context.
Why a fixed point can help
Traditional pages ask your eyes to move across lines and back again. A fixed word position can reduce that movement for some readers, especially during a short, focused session. It can also feel tiring or too fast for others. There is no best mode for every book or every day.
A gentle way to try it
- Start around 200–250 words per minute.
- Keep the pause and skip controls close by.
- Use a chapter or sentence view for names, lists, and dense ideas.
- Stop if your eyes feel strained; comfort is the useful signal.
